LAURA OSGOOD BROWN
SOPRANO
Soprano Laura Osgood Brown is a performer, director, and educator with a passion for opera, art song, and oratorio. She has performed as a soloist with numerous ensembles including the Traverse Symphony Orchestra, Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra, Mel Larimer Concert Series, NMC Choirs, Benzie Symphony, Opera on the Avalon, Finger Lakes Opera, and Opera Saratoga, as well as various chamber ensembles. Notable roles include Puccini’s Mimì, Bizet’s Micaëla, and Britten’s Female Chorus. Competition highlights include the American Prize in Art Song (Finalist), American Prize in Opera (Semi-Finalist), Eastman Concerto Competition (Winner), and the Jesse Kneisel Lieder Competition (Second Place). Brown frequently collaborates with composers, performing premieres of opera, oratorio, and art song, a passion that began in 2006 when she premiered the role of Nora in Siskind's The Sailor-Boy and the Falcon with Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe. Brown holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music, Cincinnati College- Conservatory of Music, and The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. She currently serves as Instructor of Voice and Opera at Interlochen Arts Academy and Camp.
