Hanna Brammer, a Traverse City native, has been singing professionally in the operatic world since 2014.
Praised as “Magnificent” by Opera News for her portrayal of Pamina in Sarasota Opera’s production of Die Zauberflöte, Hanna is quickly gaining recognition for her “crystal clear sound coupled with flexibility; which enables her to handle musical challenges with ease.” –Edward Alley, The Observer
In 2018 Hanna made her Sarasota Opera debut singing the role of Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen, as well as the role of Nuri in the rarely performed D’Albert Opera, Tiefland. Since then she has performed as Gilda in Rigoletto, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, and Juliette in Roméo et Juliette with Sarasota Opera. That same year, Hanna made her company debut with Salt Marsh Opera as Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, and with Pittsburgh Festival Opera as Woglinde in Das Rheingold, the first opera of Wagner’s famous Ring Cycle. Hanna has sung leading roles with Nashville Opera, Mississippi Opera, Opera Memphis, Festival Amadeus, Indianapolis Opera, Opera North, Opera Project Columbus, Painted Sky Opera, and Wichita Grand Opera. In addition to the roles previously mentioned, Hanna’s performance repertoire includes: Violetta in La Traviata, Helmwige in Die Walküre, Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte, Musetta in La bohème, Valencienne in The Merry Widow, Nella in Gianni Schicchi, Micaëla in La tragedie de Carmen, Semele in Die Liebe der Danae, Mabel in The Pirate of Penzance, and Rose Maurrant in Street Scene.
Hanna earned her Masters Degree in Vocal Performance from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, and she received her Bachelor's degree from Manhattan School of Music in New York.
Hanna has received several prestigious awards and scholarships, including The Margaret and David Jacobs Fellows Scholarship from Indiana University, The Birgit Nilsson Scholarship, A Merit Scholarships from Manhattan School of Music, and a Memorial Scholarship through the Sarasota Opera Guild. In 2015, Hanna competed in the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition in Amsterdam, where she advanced as a Semi-finalist. In 2018, Hanna was also a Semi-Finalist in the Mildred Miller Vocal Competition, and most recently, Hanna was awarded First Prize in The D’Angelo Young Artist Vocal Competition through Opera Tampa.
In Traverse City, Hanna has gained recognition as a featured performer for Miracle Productions Theater Company, and over several seasons, she appeared as Clara in Light in the Piazza, Christine in Phantom, and as Prudy Pingleton in Hairspray. Hanna is a graduate of Traverse City West Senior High.
