AMAL EL-SHRAFI

MEZZO-SOPRANO

Hailed by the Boston Musical Intelligencer as "shining through with a strength and power that matched her character’s presence onstage", Palestinian-American performer Amal El-Shrafi has quickly gained traction as a versatile artist in both concert work and soprano and mezzo repertoire in opera.

In 2022, Ms. El-Shrafi will be performing two workshop premieres, singing the role of Maryam in We the Innumerable by Iranian-American composer Niloufar Nourbakhsh and Laranya in This is not that Dawn by Pakistani-American composer Omar Najmi. She will also be offering two role debuts as Giorgetta (Il Tabarro) and Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana) with Barn Opera in Vermont.

From 2018-20, Ms. El-Shrafi performed on the high seas aboard the Regal Princess, starring as The Opera Diva in the acclaimed show "Bravo" with Princess Cruise Lines. Recent engagements include two concerts with Beth Morrison Projects showcasing the work of up-and-coming operatic composers and the role of Antonia in Les Contes D'Hoffmann with Opera North. Ms. El- Shrafi also made her New York Philharmonic solo debut at Lincoln Center performing works of refugee and immigrant composers. Outside of performing, Ms. El-Shrafi is a Reiki practitioner and energetic sound therapist.
